Bernice Meyer was born on June 11, 1944, at Fort Bend Hospital in Rosenberg, Texas. She spent her childhood growing up in Fredericksburg and Needville, Texas. She died July 1, 2026, in Sugar Land, TX.
She met the love of her life, Irvin W. Meyer, at a dance at Fairchild Hall. The two were married on June 17, 1960, and made their home in Pleak, Texas, where they raised their two children, Mark and Kimberly.
Bernice was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Irvin W. Meyer; her parents, Paul Meier and Selma Schwettmann Meier; and her brother, Eugene Meier.
She is lovingly survived by her sister, Rebecca Conley; her son, Mark W. Meyer; her daughter, Kimberly Alderman (Palmer); her grandchildren, Brock Meyer (Jessica), Brittany Pina (Kevin), Brooke Agruso (Scott, Cameron Alderman (Kelly), and Joshua Alderman (Tonia); as well as 15 great-grandchildren, all of whom brought her immense joy.
Bernice will always be remembered for her extraordinary talent in the kitchen. An accomplished baker, she proudly won the State Champion German Chocolate Cake award—an achievement she cherished. Cheesecakes were one of her specialties, and everyone always looked forward to one of Bernice's cheesecakes— creamy, rich, and made with love. Whether it was for a special occasion or just because, everyone always looked forward to one of Bernice's cheesecakes.
She was a devoted wife, loving mother, proud grandmother, and great-grandmother, and a faithful friend to everyone she met. Bernice loved traveling with her husband, children, and grandchildren, making countless treasured memories along the way. She also loved dancing, visiting with friends, and she never met a stranger.
In her later years, Bernice resided in an assisted living facility, where she continued to brighten the lives of those around her. She especially enjoyed playing bingo, taking walks, and visiting with fellow residents and the caring staff. Even in her final years, she looked forward to spending time with her family at gatherings and celebrations, creating cherished memories that will be treasured forever.
Bernice's kindness, warmth, generous heart, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed but forever remembered by all who were blessed to know her.
Memorials may be given in her memory to the Immanuel Evangelical Cemetery Fund, P.O. Box 505, Needville, TX 77461.
