Funeral services for Bernice Boenker Leissner, 88, of Needville, TX will be held 10 AM, Thursday, August 13, 2015 at Immanuel United Church of Christ, 9018 Church St, Needville, TX 77461, with Rev. Dr. Thomas Schwartz and Pastor George Kuebler officiating. Burial will follow at Davis-Greenlawn Cemetery, 3900 B. F. Terry Blvd, Rosenberg, TX 77471. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 12, 2015 from 5 to 7 PM at Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, Texas 77461.

Bernice was a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ Women's Guild. She worked with senior citizens and enjoyed cooking with the group every second Friday. Bernice was always glad to give a helping hand when needed.

Bernice was born in Brenham, Texas to Henry and Martha Boenker on February 17, 1927. She went to be with her Lord, Friday, August 7, 2015. Bernice was a graduate of the 1944 Class of Brenham High School and also attended Blinn College. She worked as secretary for Tristram & Citizens Pharmacy until her marriage to her loving husband, Otto Lee Leissner, on December 4, 1949.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Otto Lee Leissner; parents, Henry and Martha Boenker; in-laws, Otto and Lenora Leissner; sister, Esther Boenker.

Bernice is survived by many cousins and friends, and her pet, Happy, who was always at her side at home.

Serving as Pallbearers will be Travis Boeker, Kenneth Mutscher, Jack North, Walter Goff, Lloyd Ferguson and Willie Kankel. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gus Mutscher, Dennis Hajdik, John Stern, Jack Moore, Travis Boeker, Dr. Art Klawitter, W. Lee Hedt and Edwin Orsak.
