Funeral services for Bernice Kusy, 81, of Needville, TX, are set for 10 AM Saturday, May 31, 2014, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9214 Main St, Needville, TX 77461, with Father Joseph Phan officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.



Visitation will be 5 - 7:00 PM Friday, May 30, 2014, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Directors Chapel, 3103 School Street, Needville, TX 77461, with Rosary beginning at 7 PM.



Bernice Kusy passed away on May 27, 2014, in Needville, TX. She was born Bernice Kossa on April 1, 1933, in Ammansville, TX, to William Kossa and Matilda Pokluda-Kossa. She married Valentine Kusy on June 21, 1951. They settled in the Houston area and moved to Needville, TX, in 1975. She was a housewife and devoted her time to rearing her family. Later she worked in the school cafeteria for the Needville School District. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Post 350.



Preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Matilda Kossa; sisters, Agnes Acyoth and Janie Rabel; brother, Lawrence Kossa; sister-in-law, Leona Kossa; brothers-in-law, John Witzkoski and Jack Mooring.



Bernice is survived by her husband, Valentine Kusy of Needville, TX; daughters, Marilyn Etchegaray of Waco, TX, and Gloria Darden of Fort Worth, TX; sons, Kenneth Kusy of Needville, TX, and Kevin Kusy and wife, Ivy, of Pearland, TX; sisters, Evelyn Witzkoski and Dorothy Mooring; brother, Sylvin Kossa; 7 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.



Memorials may be given in her memory to St. Michael's Catholic Church, 9214 Main Street, Needville, TX 77461, or to the American Legion Post #350/Needville, TX 77461.
