A funeral service for Barbara Nan Yarrington Foster, age 88, formerly of Richmond, will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 5, 2015 at Morton Cemetery, 401 N. Second Street, Richmond, Texas 77469. She passed away July 9, 2015, in Rockville, Maryland, where she had been living for several years.

Barbara was born in Ardmore, Oklahoma, on September 26, 1926, to Roy and Bernice Yarrington. They moved to Houston when Barbara was a child. There she met James Foster, to whom she would be married for 58 years. For 20 of those years, Barbara enjoyed being an Army wife. During that time, the family lived in bases across the United States and overseas in Eritrea and France. She also enjoyed being a faculty wife during James's tenure at the University of Texas Dental Branch in Houston.

Barbara was preceded in death by her husband James and daughter Suzanne. She is survived by her sons James (Janis) and Brian (Jo); her daughter Eileen (Ray); grandchildren David, Neil, Alison, Meredith, James and Andrew; three great-grandchildren; along with nieces, nephews and friends.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fort Bend County Libraries, where Barbara spent many hours working on her beloved hobby of genealogy. Donations should be sent to Fort Bend County Libraries, Attn: Business Office, 1001 Golfview Dr., Richmond, TX 77469. Please note that it is in memory of Barbara Foster.
