Obituary

Barbara Massengale Heitman, 85, went to be with the Lord on Thursday February 13, 2020, with her loving family by her side. Barbara was born Barbara Rae Massengale on June 8, 1934 in Cameron, Texas, to Ben and Beaulah Massengale. She married the love of her life, her soul mate Arthur (Jack) Heitman on August 26, 1961. They had a love only God could have created. They reside in Rosenberg, Texas, where they have owned and operated The Corral Western Store for 41 years.

She loved spending time with her children, grand-children, and great-grandchildren, and also spending time with her Saturday coffee ladies, Birthday friends, Quilting group, and Sunday School class. She never met a stranger and always was there to lend a helping hand. She was always giving of herself with never wanting anything in return. Barbara had a devoted Baptist Faith and was a member of First Baptist Church Rosenberg, and was even married in the church. Barbara was known for her delicious Pecan Pies. She and the quilting group made pillows for M.D. Anderson breast cancer patients every year. Barbara and Jack loved to travel to Branson, Missouri and Wyoming with their close friends.

She had a heart of gold and was the most loving wife, mother, grand-mother, and great-grandmother that you could ever meet. Those who knew her were truly blessed to be in her presence. Her beauty and kindness would light up a room. She is the backbone of the family and one of the strongest and sweetest women we have ever known. We love her and will miss her so much.

Barbara is survived by her husband of 58 years, Jack, daughter Janet Meyer and husband Kenny, daughter Suzanne Wood and husband Brian. Grandchildren: Roxanna Reed and husband Ashley, Jenna Meyer and husband Dale, Colton Smith and wife Hannah and Brandon Wood. Great-Grandchildren: Madilyn and Ashton Reed, Paislee and Blesstin Tadlock and Jackson Smith. She is also survived by her sister Billie-Joe White and brother Sonny Massengale.

She was preceded in death by her parents Ben and Beaulah Massengale and son Jackie Heitman.
