Obituary

Alfred "Al" Dennis Nulisch passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 14, 2016. Al was born on March 26, 1943 in Houston, Texas to Ernest Willie Nulisch and Edna Martha Goerlitz Nulisch.

Al was raised and still lived in Sugar Land, Texas where he graduated from John Foster Dulles High School in 1961. After graduating from Dulles High School, Al worked at Garmany Funeral Home and Hull Airport (currently known as Sugar Land Municipal Airport) where he worked on his pilot's license. He later became a business owner in Sugar Land and a successful custom home builder in the Greater Houston area. Al ultimately found his true calling and passion in having his Captain Charter License and fishing in Sargent and Port Isabel, Texas.

Al is survived by his wife of 48 years, Bonnie, and their two children: Terri Michelle Salter, her husband Russell, and their daughters Brooke and Brittany of Sugar Land; Tammi Renee Burkes and her children Joshua and Ashley Heinemeyer of Sugar Land.

Al was a husband, father, grandfather, friend, and fisherman. He was known by many as 'Big Al' or 'Capt. Al' because of his larger than life personality, love of fishing, and uncanny ability to find the fish no matter where they were hiding. He loved fishing in Sargent and Port Isabel and he enjoyed taking people fishing and teaching friends and family to fish – everyone knew if you were fishing with Big Al you would not go home empty handed! He loved life and all who knew him loved him. Big Al loved his girls, Terri and Tammi, and was loved by their friends as he and Bonnie were second parents to many of their daughters' friends.

Al will be missed greatly by his family and friends but the fish are feeling safer!
