Al Edd
Dobson Ii
Nov 5, 1945 — Sep 12, 2021
Richmond
Alfred Edd Dobson, Jr., age 75 went to be with our Heavenly Father on September 12, 2021. Alfred was born on November 5, 1945, in Houston, to Alfred Edd Dobson, Sr. and Marie Marjorie Dobson. After graduating Mt. Carmel High School, he served in the United States Coast Guard. After his service with the Coast Guard, he attended and graduated from the University of Houston majoring in criminal justice.
He was Chief Juvenile Officer and also, Deputy for Fort Bend County Sheriff's Department. He later served as the Chief Adult Probation Officer in Fort Bend County and also became the Chief of Police in Fulshear, Texas. He finished out his career as Lieutenant of Precinct One Fort Bend County. He retired in 2012.
Al devoted his life to his work, love for animals and his family. Al adored spending time with family and friends, including fur babies. He enjoyed spending time at the beach, fishing, and chatting about anything and everything. He also loved going on walks with his dog, Jasmine. Being assigned to the Greatwood area as a Constable, he became quite a staple for that area and is known as "Officer Al" by many residents who still follow him today. He had an unwavering love for his family and community, and it showed in his daily life. Al was a long time parishioner of St. John Fisher Catholic Church in Richmond, which gave him so much joy. Al touched many hearts and was loved by so many. He gave so much of himself to others. We have lost someone who was an angel on earth and can only imagine how he has been welcomed in Heaven. Words cannot express how much he will be missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Marie Dobson. Al is survived by his wife Barbara Tesch Dobson, daughter Emilie Bohacek and husband, Bryan, stepsons David Mensik, Darren Mensik and wife, Lenore, grandson Jake Mensik, sisters Veronica F. Young and husband Jess, Kieran M. Baker and Barbara J. Marsh, stepmother Barbara A. Dobson and numerous step-brothers, step-sisters, nieces, nephews, and close family friends.
